Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer

Here's a link to the Paranormal Activity 2 teaser trailer:

http://www.paranormalmovie.com/

It seemed pretty obvious there'd be a sequel. I found the first one fairly terrifying, but I do hope it's not more of the same and that there's some element of originality about the second one.

New bands That Sound Like Bands I Like.

For a band that only started gigging a year ago 'Freelance Whales' are doing pretty well. Their album 'Weathervanes' has been receiving very favorable reviews from the critics. I haven't heard the whole album yet but here's a track from it that I particularly like. It's got a real Sufjan Stevens feel which in my books is a good thing. Plus I've got a weird love of songs with the word 'horse' in the title. No kidding.

Fanfarlo, another newish band. I guess how much you like this band will depend a lot on what you think of Simon Balthazar's voice. I like it, I also like Alec Ounsworth's voice (lead singer of 'Clap Your Hands Say Yeah') so this comes as no surprise. Fanfarlo's debut album 'Reservoir' gets two thumbs up from me.

'Get Him to the Greek' 1 (long) Sentence Review

Yesterday's lazy Sunday movie choice was 'Get Him to the Greek'. Lets face it, the trailer doesn't really sell the movie. If anything, I was repelled by it. However, the movie has been getting decent reviews and I do like Russell Brand (in a purely sexual way). Also, it's a spin-off of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' which I really enjoyed. So aside from justifying why I went to see it, here is my 1 sentence review:

Jonah Hill is large n lovely, Brand plays a typical rock star -boozing, babes and blow, Puff Daddy/P Diddy etc made me lol several times, it's slow to start, pacing gets better, Apatow's raunchy humour distracts from the weak plot, drop in several outragous sex scenes and finish it off with the predictable 'drugs are bad' moral lesson and you've got yourself a 6.5/10 star movie.

This is my opinion of course. But there are a few things to consider before going to see this:
  • Do you like Judd Apatow's movies (The Hangover, Knocked Up, Funny People, Stepbrothers...the list goes on)?
  • Do you like Russell Brand (Sexually or otherwise)?
  • Do you like crude jokes?
  • Do you like boobs?
  • Are you male?
If you've answered yes to at least 3 of the above, you'll most probably enjoy this movie.

Dali and his Anteater

Artist Salvador Dali was an admirer of fellow Surrealist Andre Breton; who just so happens to be nicknamed 'The Anteater'. From here his fascination with anteaters began. Dali drew several sketches of anteaters dedicating one to Breton. He was also photographed emerging from the Parisian subway with a giant anteater. Clearly Dali's surrealist view extends beyond his art.

A shoot my wonderful friends Aoife and John helped me out on. The final piece will be a photo collage. Here are the outtakes from the day.

His & Hers (not to be confused with She & Him)

Irish Filmmaker Ken Wardrop's first feature-length film 'His & Hers'. I love documentaries so I'm quite excited by this!

To Fill Your Polarvoid

Nothing beats an original Polaroid picture however if you're low on cash and still want that old-skool look, try out this application http://www.poladroid.net/download.html. It's actually a lot of fun to use, you even have to wait for your picture to develop. It's an easy peasy process and has a very genuine Polaroid effect. Here's an example of a couple of pictures I took on my DSLR converted to Polaroid:

Not So Impossible

After the Impossible Project's relaunch of Polaroid Film I've been enthusiastically giving my Polaroid one600 a new lease of life. Here are a few snaps I've taken over the weekend. All photos were taken with Polaroid 600 Giambarba film:
